MATHEMATICS

Mr. Lei Zhu

Dr. Jiangang Yao

Lei Zhu graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University. He had experience in coaching AMC 8 panorama course with 100+ students all around the world. His AMC8/10/12 ad AIME daily exercise also helped students to improve scores in real tests.

Dr. Yao was fascinated with mathematics as a child and started his involvement with mathematical olympiad since then. He won the gold medal with full marks in the 35th International Mathematical Olympiad and got math PhD degree from UC Berkeley. He has been the coach for mathematical olympiad at various levels for 30 years, and has written a few popular mathematical olympiad books in Chinese. 

BUSINESS FOR YOUTH

DR. JINGWEI MENG

Dr. Meng is currently a faculty member at Indiana University School of Medicine. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in molecular cancer biology from Duke University and a MBA degree in finance and supply chain management from IU Kelley School of Business. He served as a consultant for several US and China firms and, in 2019, secured $3.5 million investments for two healthcare companies. Dr. Meng is also the co-founder of Melody Culture Foundation, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization established in 2004. He participated actively in cultural and educational services, including the first Chinese TV program in San Diego, concerts and master classes, summer camps, and systematic business training for teenagers. Since 2018, Dr. Meng has developed a comprehensive suite of business courses and instructed in multiple summer camps and weekend programs across the US.


DEBATE

Mr. Hemanth Asirvatham

Hemanth Asirvatham is a student at Harvard University. He was formerly the captain of the Century High School debate team and placed multiple times at statewide competitions. Hemanth attended the Research Science Institute at MIT and was awarded Top 10 presentation. Hemanth is a State AP Scholar, has placed 2nd at the US National Brain Bee, and is a two-time ISEF Finalist. He has led and instructed school teams for Model UN, Science Bowl, and STEM Society. Hemanth recently instructed a Debate 101 summer program with over 150 attendees. In his free time, Hemanth enjoys watching Star Trek (better than Star Wars, obviously), rereading Harry Potter for the 100th time, and beating his friends in Monopoly, Werewolf, or really any other non-physical game.

Benjamin B. Yan is a student at Stanford University and an U.S. Presidential Scholar, one of the nation’s highest honors for students. He is a two-time ISEF Finalist and a two-time state high school math champion. During high school, he interned at Mayo Clinic, where he used AI technology to analyze medical scans. His research has won national awards and was featured in a news article titled “When AI Goes Wrong.” Benjamin has been teaching students since 2017, specializing in the learning domains of computer science, MATHCOUNTS, and Jackbox Games. Outside of work, he enjoys Taylor Swift music, scrolling endlessly through TikTok, and NFL games. Helen is a sophomore at Carleton College, where she is a prospective chemistry major. In middle school and high school, she participated in competitions including MathCounts, Math League, AMC, AIME, ARML, and Math Prize for Girls. She has been a top-50 finisher in the Minnesota State Math League and selected for the All-State Math Team three times. She also participated extensively in Science Olympiad and was runner up at the State Tournament in Disease Detectives, Anatomy and Physiology, and Protein Modeling. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, running, and listening to music.


Stephen Wu

Stephen Wu is a senior at Century High School, serving as
president of its STEM Society, a large organization dedicated
to providing K-12 students with science and technology
opportunities, and captain of its title-winning math league
team. He was worked on numerous award-winning projects
in the fields of computer science, machine learning, and
natural language processing, alongside doing research at Mayo Clinic
In the field of cancer immunology.

Zhishan Wang

Zhishan “Hao Hao” Wang is a sophomore at MIT studying biology. Hao Hao participated in various academic competitions in high school, including MathCounts, AMC, NOSB, NSB, and NAQT. She has four years of experience tutoring different subjects and coaching for MathCounts. She is interested in pursuing a career in biomedical research or medicine in the future. 

Zoey Chen

Zoey is a junior at Century High School and a co-captain of the Century Debate Team. With the other captains, she organized the Debate 101 summer camp, which gave 150+ students across the country an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of debate, with the ultimate goal of inspiring them to continue on the debate journey. As debate captain, Zoey focuses on novice development and caseplan creation. Outside of the debate team, Zoey serves as Secretary and coach of the Rochester Math Club, and teaches a painting class as an enrichment program. She is also a varsity tennis player and a board member of the Asian Youth Leadership Association. Although she’s a beginner in both, Zoey loves learning both foreign and coding languages in her spare time.

Will Wang

Will Wang is an upcoming sophomore at Boise High School. He has been actively involved in numerous academic competitions, such as MathCounts, Science Bowl, AMC, and ARML. He is a 2-time National MathCounts participant, as well the written champion for Idaho in 2018 and 2019. Will was also the math, biology, and earth science specialist of the TVMSC Science Bowl team, which placed 9th at the National Science Bowl in 2019. He has taught classes on competition math locally, as well as being a solutions writer for a course online. He is  also the principal oboist for the Idaho All-State Orchestra. During the pandemic, Will enjoys lazing around and playing soccer and table tennis, as well as tickling the ivories. His favorite composers are Satie and Rachmaninoff.

Jenny Yan

Jenny Yan is a junior at Century High School and captain of the debate team. She co-founded and taught at the summer debate camp, which supplied 200 students with the knowledge and skills requisite for competitive success. As debate captain, she establishes the blueprint for managing logistics, planning events, and expanding outreach. She served as the vice president of her high school class of 2022, where she organized and coordinated events to promote community service and engagement, and worked as an elected representative of the student body and their interests. She also has a deep passion for intersectional advocacy, and she is on the development committee of the Rochester Community Initiative. Outside of school, she is a varsity tennis athlete and a Harry Styles enthusiast.

Frank Lu

Frank is a senior at Minnetonka High School and one of the current captains of the Minnesota All-State Math Team. He's been doing math competitions seriously since 8th grade. Over the years, he's qualified for USA Math Olympiad three times and was invited to the Math Olympiad Program in 10th grade. He's also participated in various on-site competitions with the MN All-State Math Team, obtaining an 18th place finish at ARML in 2017 and a 41st overall individual finish at HMMT in 2019. Besides Math, he's also participated in physics competitions, finishing 2nd place in the region at Physics Bowl in 9th grade and earning a Silver in USA Physics Olympiad in 11th grade. When he's not doing competitions, he enjoys listening to music and playing piano.

Michael Huang

Michael Huang is an incoming junior at Century High School, and is a member of the Century Math League Team. He has participated in numerous math competitions, such as AMC, AIME, MathCounts, and ARML. He has volunteered as an RMC math coach since 9th grade. Michael has also participated extensively in Science Olympiad and Science Bowl activities, in both middle and high school. Outside of mathematics and science, he also enjoys playing video games and investing in random programming projects for fun. He especially enjoys breaking programs and websites by writing bots.
