Dr. Pavlo Pylyavskyy is a full Professor in the University of Minnesota School of Mathematics. He participated in numerous math Olympiads when he was young. Dr. Jingwei Meng is currently a faculty member at Indiana University. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Duke University and a MBA degree in finance and supply chain management from Indiana University Kelley School of Business. Dr. Meng is the co-founder of Melody Culture Foundation, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization established in 2004. He is actively involved in many cultural and educational services, including the first Chinese TV program in San Diego, concerts and master classes in music, summer and winter camps in business, and systematic business training for middle school and high school students. Since 2018, Dr. Meng has developed a comprehensive suite of business courses (“MBA for Youth” Program) and instructed in summer and winter camps across the US. His business classes are also offered as online weekly programs during spring and fall semesters.

Mr. Timothy Alexander is a student at The University of Alabama double majoring in Mathematics and Chemistry. Timothy’s love and interest in STEM started at a young age as he began participating in math competitions in middle school - winning the Minnesota Mathcounts competition. Timothy continued this passion into highschool, qualifying for AIME 5 times as well as qualifying and competing in USAJMO, Math League, HMMT, and ARML (competing on Minnesota's top team as a captain). He scored a perfect 36 on the ACT and was a National Merit Finalist. Most recently Timothy was awarded the College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Junior at University of Alabama. His experience in programming comes from numerous independent projects such as an automated forex trading algorithm, an election modeler, website design as well as coding in his research. Outside of school, Timothy loves playing sports such as soccer and spikeball, playing strategic board games, and watching shows such as Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn 99.

Mr. Yiwei Lyu is a Computer Science and Engineering Ph.D. student at University of Michigan, with a B.S. in Computer Science and M.S. in Machine Learning at Carnegie Mellon University. His research focuses on multimodal machine learning (i.e. machine learning that deals with multiple types of data, such as image, text, tables, etc). He has extensive experience in machine learning research, including 6 peer-reviewed publications (including top conferences like NeurIPS, NAACL, etc) and over 80 citations. He was also invited to be a reviewer for prestigious academic conferences in machine learning, like NeurIPS, CVPR, and ICML. He was the recipient of 2021 CRA Undergraduate Research Award Honorable Mentions (~100 in the entire nation). Yiwei also has extensive teaching experience. He was a teaching assistant for a second-year algorithms course for 4 semesters at CMU. Yiwei is also Daniel’s cousin. Due to his international student status, Yiwei will be a volunteer in this camp. Daniel Li is a sophomore at MIT. Daniel was a USACO finalist in the 2018-2019 season. He was also a 2020 and 2021 Canadian Computing Olympiad Invitee, and a 2020 and 2021 season Google Code Jam Round 2 qualifier. He participates in Codeforces contests (danielli03) and has a Master Title as well. Daniel enjoys teaching. He has taught Java and algorithms for 500 hours in his high school years, with more than 100 students. Since entering college, he has taught four courses (Bronze level one, Bronze level two, and Silver two times) at AoS with more than 90 students total. In addition, he has been an instructor for AoS summer camp 2022. Daniel has made 48 youtube videos to teach java (cswithdaniel), which has more than 550 subscribers. In his free time, Daniel participates in church bible study and activities. He currently does research at MIT involving machine learning. Daniel also likes to play card games and board games. He has programmed video games, but not recently.

Ms. Zhishan “Hao Hao” Wang is a recent graduate from MIT with a B.S. in biology. She enjoys learning about novel applications of biology to biomedical research. During high school, Hao Hao participated in academic competitions such as the AMC, National Science Bowl (NSB), National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB), and National Academic Quiz Tournaments (NAQT). She has 6+ years of experience teaching math, biology, and reading/writing.

Dr. Bing Ye is the Burton L. Baker Collegiate Professor of the Life Sciences at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. He is a Professor in the Life Sciences Institute and the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology of U-M medical school. Dr. Ye received his PhD in neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and his postdoc training at UCSF before joining the faculty of University of Michigan. Dr. Yi Zhou graduated from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) with a B.S. in Modern Physics and then continued to earn his Ph.D in theoretical/computational physics at the University of Houston in the United States. He has been a math and physics enthusiast from an early age, and now has been teaching AP Physics and Physics competitions class for several years. Many students have excelled in the AAPT F=ma exam and earned medals in the USAPHO competition. During his free time, Dr. Zhou enjoys doing interesting math/physics problems and long distance running.

Dr. Jinlan Ni is currently a faculty at University of Washington. She received her PhD in economics from Purdue University. Her primary research interests are Applied Microeconomics. Prior to joining UW, she was a professor of economics at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. In her professional service, she was the President of the Chinese Economists Society (CES, 2013-14), CES regent chair (2015) and is the founding director of CES China office. She is currently the editor of the China Economic Journal.

He has been maniacally scribbling red ink since 2001 as an editor then a teacher. Now living in Rochester, MN, he tutors full-time in writing and reading. In his spare time, he plays with his hyperactive Aussiedoodle, reads, draws, and plays puzzle games.

Mrs. Tara Gaoyang, MFA in Film Production from Chapman University. She started composing for film and games in 2015. Now lives in so-cal as a sound designer in the film industry and teaching film production courses. She also enjoys teaching yoga and meditation in her free time.

Dr. Bin Zhang started learning and practicing photography from childhood with the film which is rare to see nowadays. One of the great passions of his life is photography which helps him capture the events and scenes of his whole life. His photographic experiments include landscapes, wild animals, sports, and also portraits. He has also served the Rochester Math Club as a photographer in the past several years.

Mrs. Misha is the founder of Misha Bakery. Without question, Misha is a Chinese pioneer in the field of baking in Minnesota. With over ten years’ passion and creativity for baking, Misha’s popularity growth has been undeniable in the Twin Cities. As an entrepreneur, Mrs. Misha has proven to be resourceful in starting a business, forming professional partnerships and executing visions for expansion. She also enjoys serving the Chinese community in direct correlation with her business. In her limited spare time, Mrs. Misha enjoys taking in Minneapolis’ art scene and traveling to new places.
